Linda
Settle
Even though Linda Settle was born in Detroit, Michigan, she laughingly
claims that her first word was "Illinois." Indeed,
Linda places an emphasis on the state as life in Southern Illinois has
been the focus of many of her works.
Linda's first book, "A Legacy of Laughter" was published in 1999.
The book chronicles her grandmother's memoirs. In 2000, Linda published another work, "Generations of
Memories." This pictorial illustrates the history and personality
that is unique to the people, places, and events in Franklin County,
Illinois.
In addition to being an author, Linda also writes a column for The
Benton Evening News. These stories feature some of her life
experiences written in a way that everyone can relate to.
Linda's love for people and writing makes her a wonderful instructor
and mentor for new authors. As an experienced writer, Linda knows
the work involved in "getting published" and how to turn the
experience into success.
Currently, Linda is working on her third book, and editing several
manuscripts for her clients.
In addition to her writing, Linda serves on the Board of Directors
with the Benton/West City Area Chamber of Commerce and the Benton/West
City Economic Development Corporation. These positions have afforded her the opportunity to give back to the community she loves.
The mother of two sons and a grandmother of one grandson, Linda resides with
her husband, Ed, near Rend Lake on the former home place where her
grandparents lived.
